Things to Do Near The Inn on Gore Mountain
Things to do in the Winter
Gore Mountain is a breathtakingly scenic ski center in the midst of a major improvement program. As of the last two years, Gore Mountain can boast of a new high-speed quad chair, two new expert trails, new “glade” terrain, and a new learn – to- ski area. Most importantly, Gore Mountain has got a new pipeline bringing unlimited water from the Hudson River to ensure uninterrupted snowmaking.
You’ll also find Gore Mountain to be far less crowded than other ski areas of its caliber – it is truly worth the drive – only 4 to 4 ½ hours from the New York – NJ metropolitan area, 3 hours from the Rochester region.
The Inn at Gore Mountain is the place to be during ski season. We are the closest lodging and dining to the ski area, 500 feet, driveway – to- driveway. We are also minutes away from fine cross country skiing and snowshoeing at Garnet Hill, and Cunningham’s Ski Barn.
What else? Snowmobile rentals and trails ½ hour drive away, horse-drawn sleigh rides, clean crisp mountain air, and a good night’s sleep!
Things to do in the Spring, Summer, and Fall
With the majestic Hudson River a stone’s throw away, Rafting on the Hudson River river sports are an unforgettable way to experience the Adirondacks. Local white water rafting companies offers guided Hudson River white water rafting trips all spring, summer, and fall.
Pick the season that best fits your needs – early spring brings rollicking, big (and chilly!) white water; summer and early fall bring gentler water (perfect for family trips) and warmer weather. Enjoy 16 miles of spectacular Adirondack scenery, and return with memories to last a life time.
What else? How about lift – accessed mountain biking and hiking trails at the Gore Mountain ski center? Veteran riders can tackle black diamond trails from the get-go, while novices can enjoy a fun learn-to-ride clinic. You can also explore the trails with both feet on the ground, or relax on the lift ride both up and down Gore Mountain’s slopes.
